Empowering Genuine Growth & Healing

Providing confidential virtual counseling tailored for first responders, healthcare workers, and adults or adolescents navigating life’s everyday pressures.

My approach

I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and understood. Because research shows that the single most important predictor of successful therapy is the relationship you have with your therapist, I focus heavily on establishing an authentic connection with you—grounded in real conversation and balanced with a healthy dose of humor. I believe in open and honest communication, offering direct feedback and insights to help you gain clarity and move forward. My approach fosters a therapeutic relationship where you can feel comfortable exploring your vulnerabilities, knowing that you will be met with empathy and respect. By combining warmth, acceptance, and directness, I aim to equip you with practical, real-world skills you can actually implement day-to-day—empowering you to identify your strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve meaningful personal growth.

What to Expect

Our first session is an opportunity for us to connect, get to know each other, and see if we click. Because it is an intake, I will have a lot of questions to map out your background, but my goal is that you still walk away from hour one with clear direction. You will find a non-judgmental, straight-shooting environment designed to help you drop your guard and safely share your story. I am not going to assign you boring paper homework; instead, we will focus on tactical skills and mindsets you can actively train with in your daily life. Together, we will build an actionable plan tailored to your reality.

You might also notice a couple of office furballs—Donut or Migi—making a virtual cameo. There is actual neuroscience behind this: interacting with animals lowers cortisol (stress hormones) and regulates the nervous system, which helps ground you during heavy conversations. Because this is a virtual space, you are highly encouraged to bring whatever helps you decompress—whether that is your own pet crashing the screen, a hot coffee, or just showing up in your most comfortable hoodie or team jersey. Whatever keeps you grounded is welcome here.

Rachel’s Story

I’ve always believed that therapy works best when we drop the clinical masks and talk like real human beings. Years ago, as a young child welfare professional and a mother of two, I found myself in the client chair. I was drowning in the stress of a high-stakes job while grieving the loss of a loved one. The therapist I saw either just nodded and listened, or suggested I simply change careers because they couldn't comprehend why I stayed in such a brutal environment.

That wasn’t what I needed. I didn’t want to quit, and I didn't need pity. I needed empathy, validation, and practical tools to help me survive the reality of my life.

That experience—combined with years of research since—confirmed that people don't need a robotic textbook; they need a human approach. That is exactly why I transitioned into private practice in 2022. I wanted to build a space where clients are truly understood, not judged or misread.

Coming from a family deeply embedded in a culture of public service—including military, first responders, healthcare workers, and government professionals—I know firsthand the unique grit, sacrifices, and invisible loads that come with these lifestyles. It was that foundation that led me into this field in 2009.

As a Certified Veteran and Military Mental Health Professional (CVMHP), I couple that personal experience with specialized training to support adults and adolescents across all of life's seasons—from the heaviest traumas to everyday personal growth. In this space, your goals are the absolute priority. I am not here to project my own agenda or tell you how to live your life; I am here to help you navigate your reality head-on and build the life you envision for yourself.

Above all, I want you to know this: You are not broken. You are not in the wrong place. You can do hard things. You are a human navigating your own journey and you will always be accepted by me.

I have a particular passion for working with:

  • Life Transitions & Everyday Stress: Adults navigating standard life changes, relationship shifts, identity growth, or just feeling stuck and wanting a safe space to process and reset.

  • Professional Burnout & Life Balance: High-achievers and professionals in demanding careers navigating chronic stress so they can reclaim their mental clarity and protect their well-being.

  • Adolescents & Young Adults: Teens and young adults navigating intense academic, social, or family expectations, as well as the overwhelming pressures of launching into adulthood.

  • Trauma & High-Stress Careers: Adults processing critical incidents, operational stress, or deep-seated trauma—specifically tailored for active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and frontline professionals.

  • Anxiety, Depression, & Mood Challenges: Helping both teens and adults manage the day-to-day impacts of mood disorders so they can rebuild baseline resilience.

  • Relationship & Family Transitions: Guiding couples and families through communication breakdowns, disconnection, and the unique relational strains that come with busy lifestyles.
